new Delhi. The BJP government in Gujarat has presented its last budget (Gujarat Budget 2022) for the state on Thursday. State Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai presented the last budget of the government before the assembly elections. During this, the government presented a surplus budget of Rs 2,43,965 crore for 2022-23. During this, special announcements were made for farmers and women.
Rs 757 crore allocated for agricultural research
Desai announced special initiatives for the farmers of the state, including an allocation of Rs 757 crore for the Agricultural Research Initiative. In his budget speech, he announced a total provision of Rs 7737 crore for agriculture and farmer welfare. This includes allocation of Rs 10,000 crore to provide subsidy of Rs 6,000 per year to each farmer family under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi.

4976 crore has been allocated for the Department of Women and Child Development in the budget. To prevent malnutrition, pregnant and lactating mothers will be given one kilogram of pulses, two kilograms of gram and one kilogram of edible oil every month free of cost.

Other budget announcements
Giving highest priority to the education sector in the budget, Rs 34,884 crore has been allocated for this. Rs 15,568 crore has been allocated to the Department of Energy and Petrochemicals, Rs 14,297 crore to the Urban Development Sector, Rs 12,240 crore to Health and Family Welfare and Rs 12,024 crore to the Roads and Buildings Department. 500 crore has been earmarked in the budget for a new scheme to help people run cowsheds.
