Crash Test of Cars Apart from many features while buying a car, the most important thing that should be kept in mind is safety. With the changing times, safety has become an important issue. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, on an average, more than one lakh people die in road accidents every year in the country. However, as the safety features of cars are getting better, the number of people who die in road accidents is decreasing.
Now most of the people who buy the car have started knowing about the crash testing of the car. The strength or safety of any car is now judged by crash tests and safety ratings. The SECTI rating is given by the Global New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) by crash tests of cars. Their safety is revealed in this test. This safety is different for both adults and children.

What is meant by safety rating
Crash testing of cars of almost all companies is done by NCAP. All the companies offer different safety features on each model and variant of their car. These include features like airbags, ABS, EBD, safety belt, back sensor, camera, speed alert. When a car is crash tested, it is rated on the basis of these safety features.
Safety rating process
The car is crash tested for safety rating. For this a human-like dummy is used. During the test, the vehicle is hit with a hard object at a fixed speed. During this 4 to 5 dummies are used in the car. The child’s dummy is in the back seat. It is fixed on the child safety seat.
Safety Rating helps you buy a safe car
After the crash test, the car’s airbags worked or not. How much damage was done to the dummy? How well did the other safety features of the car work? Rating is given on the basis of all these. This rating helps the customers to buy a safe car. However, NCAP does not crash test all the variants of any car.
