NEW DELHI: IndiGo on Monday suspended some of its pilots who were protesting over pay cuts that have been continuing ever since the pandemic.
Matters became worse after the airline gave ESOPs worth crores to people in its top management.
Following the uproar on this issue, IndiGo had recently restored 8 per cent of the 30 per cent Covid time pay cuts for pilots.
The airline had decided to partially restore salaries with 8 per cent hike at first and then raise it by another 6.5 per cent from November 1, in case of no further disruptions for reasons like Covid or geopolitical issues.
“We confirm that a handful of IndiGo pilots have been suspended from duty for indulging in activities that are in contravention to the terms of their employment and in violation of the code of conduct of the Company,” an IndiGo spokesperson said.
