new Delhi. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has released the Second Advance Estimates of Foodgrains Production for the year 2021-22. The ministry estimates that this time there will be a record food grain production of 316.6 million tonnes in the country. This is 53 lakh tonnes more than last year. In 2020-21, 310.7 million tonnes of food grains were produced.
Oilseeds and Pulses Production is estimated to be a record production this time. Higher production may bring down the prices of pulses and mustard oil. With this, the general public can get relief from inflation. According to the ministry, the production during the year 2021-22 is likely to be 253 million tonnes more than the average foodgrain production of the last five years (2016-17 to 2020-21).

Rice and wheat will be plentiful
The total production of rice during 2021-22 is estimated at a record 12.79 million tonnes. And this is higher by 11.50 million tonnes than the average production of 116.4 million tonnes in the last five years. The total production of wheat during the year 2021-22 is estimated to be a record 111.3 million tonnes. This is 74.4 lakh tonnes more than the five years’ average production of 10.39 million tonnes. Similarly, the production of coarse cereals is estimated at 498 million tonnes, which is 328 lakh tonnes more than the average production.
Bumper production of pulses and oilseeds also
The total pulses production during the year 2021-22 is estimated at 26.90 million tonnes, which is 31.4 lakh tonnes more than the average production of 23.8 million tonnes in the last five years. This time all the previous records are expected to be broken in oilseeds production. The ministry has estimated the total oilseeds production in the country at 37.10 million tonnes during 2021-22. Which is 12 lakh tonnes more than the production of 35.90 million tonnes during the year 2020-21.

Sugarcane and cotton will also be more
Sugarcane production in the country during the year 2021-22 is estimated at 41.40 million tonnes, which is 40.6 million tonnes more than the average sugarcane production of 37.34 million tonnes. Cotton production 2022 is 34 million bales ( per 170 kg) is estimated, which is 11.2 lakh bales more than the average production of 3.29 crore bales. Production of Jute and Mesta is estimated at 95.7 lakh bales (per 180 kg).
