Apple is rumoured to launch the Apple iPhone 14 series later this year. The series will be successor to the iPhone 13 series that was launched last year. Just like last two years, the Apple iPhone 14 series is rumoured to consist of four models – iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Till now, we have seen numerous reports revealing details about the Pro models in the iPhone 14 lineup but a recent Tweet from tipster Shadow_Leak has revealed some details about the vanilla iPhone 14. As per the Tweet, the iPhone 14 will offer a 6.06-inch OLED screen refresh rate of 90Hz. The tipster has also revealed that the smartphone will also sport a notch. This means that only Pro models in the iPhone 14 series may get a display with 120Hz refresh rate.
According to a previous report by known display analyst Ross Young, the tech giant will only add the ProMotion in the Pro models of iPhone 14 lineup which is rumoured to have 4 smartphones – iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Apple first introduced the ProMotion feature in iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max which were launched in September last year. For those who do not know, ProMotion adjusts the refresh rate of the display according to battery life and content on the screen. In his Tweets, Young further suggested that Chinese display manufacturer BOE will likely supply the LTPO OLED display for lower-end iPhone models, but he also said that the company does not have enough production capacity.
As per previous Tweets by Ross Young, Apple iPhone 14 Pro models will have the punch-hole cutout to house the front camera and the pill-shaped cutout will feature an infrared camera for Face ID. He also suggested that we may not be able to see an under display infrared camera until 2023 or 2024. This means that we can not expect the under display Face ID feature until iPhone 15 Pro. Previously, the smartphones were rumoured to only have a punch-hole cutout as seen on the Samsung Galaxy series devices.
