new Delhi. Income Tax Department has refunded more than Rs 1.93 lakh crore to more than 2.26 crore taxpayers till March 20, 2022 in the current financial year (2021-22). This figure is for refunds made between April 1, 2021 and March 20, 2022. Of this, personal income tax refund was Rs 70,977 crore, while corporates tax refund was Rs 1,22,744 crore.
Income Tax Department tweeted and said, “CBDT has refunded more than 1.93 lakh crores to more than 2.26 crore taxpayers between April 1, 2021 to March 20, 2022. Income tax refund of Rs 70,977 crore has been issued in 2,23,99,122 cases and corporate tax refund of Rs 1,22,744 crore has been issued in 2,34,293 cases.

Check refund status from the new website of Income Tax Department-
If your income tax refund was to come, then you can check its status online. The status can be checked through the Income Tax e-filing portal or through the website of NSDL.
>> First of all you have to go to the website www.incometax.gov.in.
>> Enter User ID and Password.
>> After login, you will see the option of e-filing.
>> Now you select Income Tax Returns
>> After that click on View File Return.
>> Now the details of your ITR will be shown.

These could be the reasons for delay in refund
One of the major reasons in cases of income tax refund getting stuck can be a mistake in the bank account details. If you have entered your account details wrong while filling the form, then because of this your income tax refund may get stuck. In such a situation, you will have to correct the account details on the website of the Income Tax Department.
