new Delhi. Jeep’s upcoming new three-row SUV Jeep Meridian is going to have a global launch on March 29. It will be launched in India in May this year. The Meridian is based on the popular Compass SUV and has been spotted several times during testing. Recently, the American maker introduced the Compass Trailhawk range-topping variant and the locally manufactured Grand Cherokee will be unveiled later this year.
The Jeep Meridian is the India-specific version of the seven-seater Jeep Compass called the Commander sold in Latin American markets. The three-row SUV will be manufactured at the Ranjangaon facility. Which will serve as the production center for the right-hand-drive version. Its price in India is expected to be between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 35 lakh. Once launched, it will rival the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Skoda Kodiaq.

Design of Jeep Meridian
The Jeep Meridian SUV is expected to sport the automaker’s signature design. The styling of the SUV could be similar to that of the Jeep Compass. It will come as a three-row SUV and will retain many of the styling from the Compass. It will get a seven-slat front grille, LED headlamps, a chunky bumper with integrated LED daytime running lights, LED fog lights. Includes lamps, body cladding, roof rails, panoramic sunroof, LED taillights, rear wiper and washer, integrated rear spoiler. The SUV is expected to get 17-inch alloy wheels.
Jeep Meridian Interior
Talking about the interiors of the Jeep Meridian, premium soft-touch material is expected to be found on its dashboard. Jeep’s U-Connect will get a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It will be equipped with features like remote command, geofencing, OTA update, towing information. The second and third row are expected to get separate AC vents and USB slots for fast charging. Front seats are expected to have ventilation and multi-way adjustability.

Jeep Meridian Engine
Jeep India has not yet disclosed any details about its upcoming Meridian SUV. The premium three-row seater SUV is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre multi-jet diesel engine that powers the Jeep Compass. This engine generates 170 Bhp of peak power and 350 Nm of torque. It could also get the 2.4-litre Tigershark four-cylinder naturally aspirated MultiAir II diesel engine used by Chrysler. This engine is capable of producing 184 bhp power and 243 Nm of torque. Transmission options on the Jeep Meridian SUV will include a six-speed manual gearbox and a nine-speed automatic unit. The Jeep Meridian SUV is likely to be available in both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrain configurations.
