Actually, 1.49 lakh entry level posts are lying vacant in Indian Railways. In this, the maximum number of 19183 posts are lying vacant in the Northern Railway zone. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has given this information in writing in the Lok Sabha in response to the question of MP Mahesh Babu.

Lok Sabha MP Mahesh Sahu had asked how many entry level posts are vacant in Indian Railways. Along with this, it was also questioned that by when these posts will be filled. In response to this, Ashwini Vaishnav said that till this time 149688 entry level posts are lying vacant.

The process of filling the posts continues
The Railway Minister said that the process of filling these posts is going on. The posts are filled up with the appointment of requisition letters as per the operational requirements. He informed that C and D grade posts are filled through selection in open market through Railway Recruitment Board and Recruitment Cell of Railway Zonal Railways.
Posts are also vacant in these zones
According to the information given by the Railway Minister, after Northern Railway, South Central Zone has the maximum number of vacancies. There are 17022 entry level posts vacant. There are 15377 vacancies in Western Zone and 11101 posts in West Central Zone. In Eastern Zone, 9774 Entry Level Posts are lying vacant.
