Why ITR Verification is Important

The process of filing income tax return without verification is considered incomplete. Only after verification, the Income Tax Department processes your ITR. Apart from this, if the ITR is not verified, then your refund will be stuck. If the verification is not done within 120 days of filing the return, then your ITR will not be considered as filed. ITR verification can be done both online and offline.

ITR verification has to be done within four months of filing income tax return. The Income Tax Department has given an opportunity to taxpayers to verify their return filing acknowledgment for the 2020-21 assessment year by going online through Aadhaar or by sending the Acknowledgment to Bengaluru by February 28.
