Started this business in 10 lakh rupees
The Messi Corner (TMC) is founded in 2015 by siblings Aayush and Aanchal Poddar. Ayush is 34 years old and has an MBA in Marketing from the University of Mumbai. At the same time, his sister Aanchal is a Masters in Marketing from the University of Bath, UK. Both of them started this business with their savings money. He started it from the corner of his house. In an interview to Your Story, Aanchal says that we started our startup from home. Our mother used to shout at us for cleaning the room and we would try, but within minutes everything would go awry again. So we decided to name the company ‘The Macy’s Corner’.

She says that we have started our business with an investment of about Rs 10 lakh. We currently have a team of 20 people. They say, we are partners during the day and brothers and sisters by night.

How does business happen?
Let us tell you that this startup prepares products in categories like travel, lifestyle, stationery and technical goods. All their products are priced between Rs 299 to Rs 3,999. This startup designs its products in-house. Raw materials are sourced from local markets in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai and the products are manufactured at TMC’s factory in Vasai, Mumbai. According to Ayush and Aanchal, they start the process of personalization when orders come to them.

All the products are handcrafted to ensure quality and packing. Today the company has a user base of around 1.5 lakhs. The startup has so far completed over two lakh orders, which includes around four lakh items. The founder claims that the startup recorded a revenue of Rs 6 crore in FY15. The target for FY 2021 is to generate revenue of Rs 10-20 crore.
