Share Market Closing Bell: Sensex breaks 1491 points, Nifty closes below 15900


new Delhi. The stock market broke down badly as soon as the stock market opened on the first trading day of the week amid the ongoing tension between Russia and Ukraine. The market has closed with a decline for the fourth consecutive day. In today’s business, Nifty Bank saw the biggest decline in 11 months. At the end of trading, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) major index Sensex closed at 52,842.75, down 1491.06.87 points, or 2.74 per cent. At the same time, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) lost 382.20 points, or 2.35 percent, to close at 15863.15.

Earlier on Friday, the Sensex closed at 54,333.81 with a fall of 768.87 points, or 1.40 per cent, at the end of trading. On the other hand, Nifty closed at the level of 16,245.40, down 252.60 points or 1.53 percent.

PNB Housing Finance to raise $400 million
PNB Housing Finance is going to hold a board meeting on March 9 to discuss capital raising plans. According to sources, the bank is looking to launch a big rights issue to raise $400 million. Sources indicate that PNB may participate in the rights issue of PNB Housing Finance. Private equity investor Carlyle can also participate in this rights issue through a new fund.

Axis Bank changed the interest rates of FD
Significantly, the country’s private sector bank Axis Bank has changed the interest rates available on fixed deposits. The new rates are effective from March 18. Axis Bank offers FDs for various tenures ranging from 7 days to 10 years. The change in interest rates is on less than Rs 2 crore.
