The Entrepreneur Journey of Vineeta Singh, the judge of this well-known show, is quite interesting. Everyone who has grown up in Mumbai has a ‘Bombay story’ to tell. Vinita Singh has a similar story. Singh’s turning point came when she was 17, when her teacher told her that she should become an entrepreneur. Vinita Singh has done her studies from IIT Madras and IIM Ahmedabad.

Vinita Singh told Humans of Bombay, “I moved to Bombay at the age of 23. I used to live in a cottage which used to get flooded during monsoons.”

She moved to Mumbai after turning down a lucrative job offer after earning degrees from two of India’s most elite institutions. Her parents and others questioned her decision. Vineeta says, “My savings were running low. I rarely went out but I moved on. I also started a venture, but it didn’t work out as planned.

Vinita said, “After a year, I started a new entrepreneurship with Fab Bag, a beauty subscription company. But after research, I realized the need for quality cosmetics for Indian women. That’s how Sugar Cosmetics was born.”

But her challenges as a woman entrepreneur did not end there. Singh explained the difficulties faced in meeting investors, “Once an investor simply refused to hold a meeting with me. He wanted to talk business with a ‘man’.”

Today Sugar Cosmetics has a community of 5 million people across all platforms. Of its more than 1,500 workforce, 75 per cent are women. Vinita is not only a successful entrepreneur but also an athlete. She ran a marathon despite being 6 months pregnant.
