Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has recently filed a patent for a smartphone which doesn’t have any camera orifice at the front, as per a report by IT Home, and could be a smartphone that could ship with an under-display camera technology.
As per the report, based upon the abstract, the product the company is looking at is primarily meant for voice calling, network communication, transaction processing, etc. You would expect the company to include a pop-up camera in the device as it has previously released a true full screen smartphone with pop-up camera but actually there is none in the device shown in the patent, which could mean that Huawei may plan to put an on-screen camera technology for the front camera.
The absence of a pop-up camera would give Huawei an opportunity to utilise the space for that in the phone body for something like a bigger battery or more camera sensors.
As per the patent images, the product carries an oval-shaped camera module at the rear which bulges out slightly. The rear camera setup is a vertical one and the device has a slim look. There are two very small vents at the top edge of the smartphone. The right edge of the smartphone design is shown to carry the conventional volume buttons towards the top and the power button below them. The smartphone design appears to have thin bezels and the display curves a bit at the edges. Apart from these sparse details, nothing major is known about the device in the patent for now.
