Bangalore. The country’s first last-mile electric mobility service has recently been started by retired soldiers in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. This service has been started in association with Electrodrive Powertrain Solutions Pvt Ltd (Electra EV).
Launched under the name ‘SainikPod Sit & Go’, the service has a fleet of around 100 electric vehicles, which includes Tata Tigor Electric Vehicles and Neo EVs (Tata Nano Electric Cars) Tata Nano electric cars have gone.

The company’s motive behind recruiting ex-servicemen in the mobility service is to provide them with a respectable career after retirement. Along with this, the facility of safe ride is to be provided to the women riders.
Monish Khosla, CEO, Sainikpod said, “Our soldiers are the most disciplined and trusted group of people in our country. Sainikpods and our soldiers provide them with the best security in terms of safety of passengers, especially for women.”

Passengers can easily board Sainikpod vehicles from pickup points, called pod stands, which are outside major Bengaluru Metro stations. This is convenient for travelers who are uncomfortable with digital booking processes or who do not have access to the internet on their phones. Passengers can also avail Sainikpod membership, where they will have to pay a minimum of ₹25 per ride and ₹15/km.
