The pace of industrial production increased, 1.3 percent up in January, know the details


new Delhi . Industrial output in the country has once again gained momentum. Industrial output increased by 1.3 per cent in January, despite the decline in December, while it had gone down to a 10-month low in its previous month i.e. December 2021. This information was given in a data released on Friday by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MoSPI).

Industrial production is measured through IIP (Index of Industrial Production). According to government data, industrial production grew by 0.4 percent in December. Whereas a year ago in January 2021, it saw a contraction or decline of 0.6 percent.

Manufacturing sector also increased
Mining sector output grew by 2.8 per cent in January, while it saw a jump of 2.6 per cent in December 2021. At the same time, the production of the manufacturing sector grew by 1.1 percent in January, while it declined by 0.9 percent in the previous month.

Power generation slows in January
Meanwhile, the pace of electricity generation slowed down in January and saw a growth of just 0.9 per cent, compared to a growth of 2.8 per cent in December. The IIP growth during the April-January period of the current financial year has been 13.7 per cent, as compared to a contraction or decline of 12 per cent during the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

Industrial production was affected since the outbreak of the Corona epidemic in March 2020 and then there was a contraction of 18.7 percent. In April 2020, there was a huge drop of 57.3 percent due to the lockdown.
