The company started like this- Ritesh was very fond of traveling. In the year 2009, he got a chance to visit Dehradun and Mussoorie. Here he realized that there are many such beautiful places, about which few people know.
, Such experiences inspired Ritesh and he thought of creating an online social community to provide affordable accommodation with bed and breakfast to tourists with the help of property owners and service providers on a single platform.

, In the year 2011, Ritesh started Oravel. Influenced by Ritesh’s idea, Manish Sinha of Gurgaon invested in Orawell and became the co-founder.

, Then, in 2012, Orawell got a boost when it received basic capital from Venture Nursery Angel, the country’s first angel-based start-up accelerator.
, However, Ritesh faced several problems in setting up the venture, including funding, marketing and reaching out to property owners and investors.
, When Ritesh Agarwal started Oravel.com, he was only 17 years old. Ritesh’s motive behind starting this venture was to provide affordable accommodation facilities to tourists from across the country.
, Orawell is a marketplace where you can find and book comfortable and affordable rooms for yourself from over 3,500 listings of apartments and rooms that are half the price of similar hotels in the same area .
, The company also operates Oyo Inns (OyoHotels.com), which offers a chain of affordable hotels.
, Ritesh Agarwal was born in Bismaktak, a small town located in the south of Odisha, which is known for Naxalite activities. Ritesh College is drop out. But this weakness has become his strength.
, He did his early schooling from Secret Heart School, Raigad. The mood swinging Riteish has been greatly inspired by Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg from a young age and considers Vedanta’s Anil Agarwal as his role model.
, Agarwal is the only dropout to lead a team of people who have studied at IIMs, IITs, HBS and Ivy Leagues. He says, in India, drop outs are made fun of. It is not considered smart and sensible. Ritesh once said in an interview that he hopes to earn some more drop out names in the country in the next few years.
