new Delhi. India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki has once again achieved a big achievement. The company has recorded record sales of its cars in last February. The company said that it has sold a total of 164,056 cars in February.
Maruti Suzuki also said that it has registered the highest monthly sales last month with 24,021 units. India’s largest carmaker also claimed that it sold a total of 137,607 units in the domestic market last month. Maruti Suzuki has also said that its total domestic passenger vehicle sales in February stood at 1,33,948 units as against 1,44,761 units in the same month a year ago.

Tata Motors sales up 27%
Indian carmaker Tata Motors sold 73,875 units domestically in February, registering a 27 per cent increase in annual sales rate. The company sold 58,366 units in February 2021. Tata Motors said sales of passenger vehicles in the domestic market last month grew by 47 per cent to 39,981 units as against 27,225 units in the same month last year. Total domestic commercial vehicle sales increased by 9 per cent to 33,894 units from 31,141 units in the year-ago period.
Mahindra also benefited
Other Indian carmaker Mahindra reported total sales of 54,455 units in February, an increase of 16.34 per cent over the previous month. The company says that due to chip shortage, sales of cars also increased by 38.56% to 27,663 units compared to January. According to Vijay Nakra, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, strong demand was witnessed across all segments including SUVs, which registered the highest ever monthly sales. However, there was a decline in agriculture segment sales. Tractor sales fell by 9.8 percent in February to 20,437 units as compared to the previous month.

Toyota sales up
Toyota Kirloskar had domestic sales of 14,075 units in February 2021 last year. At the same time, in February 2022 this year, only 8,745 units were sold. Due to which the company has registered a decline of 38 percent. Tata Motors said sales of passenger vehicles in the domestic market last month grew by 47 per cent to 39,981 units as against 27,225 units in the same month last year. Commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market grew by 9 per cent to 33,894 units as against 31,141 units in the same period a year ago.
