Tourists going to Manali will get freedom from jam, green tax will also be deposited through FASTag

New Delhi. There is good news for the people visiting Manali. Now they will not have to wait in long queues of vehicles at the Green Tax Barrier set up at Rangadi on the Kullu-Manali National Highway. IDFC FIRST Bank in association with Manali Tourism Development Council has started the facility of green tax payment through FASTag. This will give relief from long jams on this barrier and will also save the time of drivers and tourists.

Manali is the first city in the country to start the payment facility of Green Tax using FASTag. Till now FASTag balance has been used for payment of toll, fuel and parking charges. IDFC First Bank has been selected by Tourism Development Council Manali as the acquirer bank. It is worth noting that every month 50 lakh tourists visit Himachal Pradesh.

Drivers and tourists will be greatly benefited by the payment of green tax through FASTag at the Green Tax Barrier. It is worth noting that in other states coming to Manali, green tax is collected from registered vehicles. It used to take a long time before there was a slip system. This used to block this green tax barrier. In other states, a green tax of Rs 100 is levied on registered motorcycles, Rs 200 on cars, Rs 300 on Scorpios and Rs 500 on buses.

IDFC FIRST Bank has issued 60 lakh FASTag

IDFC First Bank is the largest acquirer serving over 400 toll plazas and has issued around 6 million FASTag. With their help, on an average, about 20 lakh transactions are done every day. The FASTag program was jointly launched by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Indian Highway Management Company Limited (IHMCL) and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) as a means of accepting toll fare at all National Highway plazas.
