Tesla CEO Elon Musk will not get any special treatment as a board member, Twitter has reportedly stated. In a statement given to The Verge, the microblogging platform’s spokesperson Adrian Zamora said that Twitter is “committed to impartiality in the development and enforcement of its policies and rules”, which means Musk will be treated just the same as any other employee when it comes to following the company’s rules and policies. Which further implies that should Musk flout the company policies, he could still be suspended or banned from the platform for as long as the microblogging platform seems fit.
“Our policy decisions are not determined by the Board or shareholders,” Zamora reportedly said. “As always our Board plays an important advisory and feedback role across the entirety of our service. Our day to day operations and decisions are made by Twitter management and employees.”
On the contrary, Musk does have some special privileges as a board member. He can play a vital role when it comes to providing guidance and feedback to the company.
As a Twitter board member, Elon Musk has been designated as a “class II director” till 2024, as per Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal. The Tesla CEO recently disclosed that he has 9.2 percent stake in Twitter and even set off a poll for the Twitter followers to see if they want Twitter to have an “edit” button, which has actually got a nod from the company now. It has announced that it is working on an edit button feature that will enable users to edit their tweets but added that it did not get the idea from the poll.
